The restaurant’s interior celebrates the sub-genre often associated with science-fiction and inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century affectionately known as steampunk. From industrial hardware to swooping velveteen fabrics, the steampunk inspired elements surrounding the dining experience evokes Chef Moonen’s creative process of playful pairing, inventive illustration, and culinary mixing.
"You’ll get comfort food items that we’ve reimagined like the inside out French onion soup, or the chicken pot pie nuggets. There’s a shellfish shepherd’s pie for an entrée, which is like a Coquille St Jacques with shrimp and crab and scallops, with potato on top. It’s comfort food, but it’s not going be the kind of comfort food that makes you feel like you got hit in the stomach with a sledgehammer. So I’m going to reinvent things. If I’m going to do a linguine with clam sauce, and I love linguine and clam sauce – instead of doing it on pasta, we’ll do it on zucchini noodles, and we’ll throw some escargot in there, that’s the kind of thing we’re going to play around with. I’m playing around the idea of Squid-e-o’s, a play on Spaghetti O’s, but with squid rings and the sauce is made from black squid ink sauce. You want little meatballs? We’re going to make our own merguez (spicy beef and lamb sausage) and make a spicy meatball."
